Edward A. Lafferty - Chief Financial Officer and General Partner, Saturn Partners
Ed is the Chief Financial Officer and General Partner of Saturn Partners. He has over fifteen years of experience in private equity and venture capital and has actively participated in all stages of company development from business plan creation and early stage financing through IPO. He is responsible for the internal operations of the firm and leverages his extensive start-up experience to assist Saturn's portfolio companies with financial, administrative and operational counsel.
Ed began working with Saturn in January of 2001 and helped to transition the company from a broker-dealer, specializing in private placements to a venture capital firm.
Prior to working at Saturn, Ed was a controller for Berkshire Partners, one of the industry's premier private equity firms. Based in Boston, MA, Berkshire Partners has attracted over $6.5 billion of capital under management. Berkshire typically invests in middle-market companies in the manufacturing, retail, communication, and transportation industries.
Ed currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Applied CleanTech, an early stage bio-fuel company and ModelGolf, a software based, golf improvement company.
He received his MBA from Bentley College and his BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University. He has earned FINRA designations of Registered Representative (Series 7 and 63) and Financial Principal (Series 27).
Ed is the Treasurer of the LD Woodman Scholarship Fund and is the Vice Chairman of the Town of Essex Finance Committee. He is also an active member of the Treasurer's Club of Boston, the Private Equity CFO Association, the New England Venture Capital Association and the Bentley University Executive Club.
Ed is married with two children.
